WESTERN ELITE FHC

College recruiting

Western Elite FHC aims to help players discover the direction they want their hockey to take them. How it looks for each player is completely different. From start to finish, we will work with each player to find their path for their college careers. We will give advice based on the level of hockey the player wishes to play at, the size of the school, academics and social aspects of each program.

We feel that this process should be an open and transparent path therefore we offer this service for free to all club members. All of our club coaches are experienced in the recruiting process and we specialize in both field and goal keeping recruiting.

Getting recruited to play in college may seem overwhelming, but the Western Elite coaches are here to help! We understand that not every athlete gets recruited the same way and we want to work with you to find the best fit.

Don’t Know Where to Start?

The coaches are more than happy to sit down and talk about your goals and thoughts when it comes to college recruiting. We will walk you through the differences between the divisions, rules when it comes to recruiting, what to start thinking about, and next steps.

Already Started on the Recruiting Journey?

We can begin scheduling checks in with you to see what progress you have made; answer any questions you may have; advise on emails, videos, Instagram accounts; and make suggestions on next steps.

Important Factors to Consider When Choosing a College
  • The division (Division I, II, III)
  • How large is the school?
  • The location
    • Geographically (how close to you to home, how often will you be traveling for games)
    • Urban, Suburban, Rural
  • What majors they offer
    • Even if you are not sure what you want to major in make sure to look at schools with a wide variety of majors
  • How rigorous the academics are
  • If you are aiming to play two sports in college
  • Team culture
    • Is it high intensity at all times? Or is there a decent balance that the athletes achieve?
    • You will have to talk to current athletes and the coaches

Above all, it is important to remember that there is no one dream school! A lot of schools are great and will provide you with amazing opportunities. Don’t get hung up on the reputation or name of a school, go with your gut and broaden your horizons.

The Western Elite coaches can’t wait to help you on your journey!
